Citrus aurantifolia (family: Rutaceae) is primarily used in daily consumption, many national cuisines, and for making juices. Its properties include being antibacterial, anticancer, antidiabetic, anti-hypertensive, anti-inflammatory, anti-lipidemic, and antioxidant; in addition, it can protect the heart, liver, bones, and prevent urinary diseases. The secondary metabolites of this plant include alkaloids, carotenoids, and triterpenoids. The other important constituents are apigenin, hesperetin, naringenin, nobiletin, rutin, etc all contribute to its healing properties.
