Cinnamon (Cinnamomum zeylanicum and Cinnamon cassia), the eternal tree of tropical medicine, is a member of the Lauraceae family. Cinnamon is one of the most important spices used worldwide. It contains primarily essential oils and other derivatives, such as cinnamaldehyde, cinnamic acid, and cinnamate. Cinnamon is also known to act as an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and lipid-lowering compound, making it an effective treatment for diseases like Parkinson's and Alzheimer's.
