Review on Khadira with special reference to Prameha (Diabetes)

Prameha (Diabetes) is among the refractory conditions identified by ancient Indian medical scholars. Several ayurvedic formulations, herbs, and minerals are available for treatment of Prameha. Khadira is a well-known medicinal plant that appears in the Indian pharmacopoeia. Ayurvedic classics texts mentioned Khadira in treatment of Prameha due to its dominance of Tikta, Kashayarasa, Katuvipaka and Laghu, Rukshaguna and Absorption of Kapha (Kaphashoshan), Anti-inflammatory (Shophhara), Wound healing (Vranaropan), Anti-obesity (Medohara) actions.
