Arq Zeera

Hamdard Arq Zeera- Arq-e-Zeera (Arq Zeera, Ark Jeera) is a herbal Unani medicine. It is a liquid medicine obtained by distillation of Desi Ajwain, Dry ginger powder, Safed Jeera and Kala Jeera. It act as It has carminative, digestive, antispasmodic, diuretic and galactagogue properties. Important Therapeutic Uses of Arq Zeera 1- promotes digestive health by enhancing the digestion process and appetite. 2- It is highly useful for people suffering from gastritis and helps relieve the intestinal spasm. 3- It is helpful in nausea and removes excess mucous. 4- Useful in digestive disorders, including anorexia, digestive weakness, and ailments associated with flatulence and indigestion. 5- It helps improve appetite or assimilation. 6- It helps in weight loss. Ingredients of Arq-e-Zeera 1- Arq-e-Zeera is a liquid medicine with spicy taste and characteristic smell. It is colorless and prepared by distillation of ingredients in the formulation composition given below: composition: 1- Ajwain Desi Trachyspermum ammi (L.) Sprague Fruit 250 g 2- Zanjabeel (Sonth) Zingiber officinale Rosc. Rhizome 125 g 3- Zeera Safaid Cuminum cyminum Linn. Fruit 375 g 4- Zeera Siyah Carum carvi Linn. Fruit 125 g 5- Aab Sadah Purified water Liquid 12.0 liter Method of preparation: 1- Take all the ingredients of pharmacopoeial quality. 2- Clean and dry the ingredients under shade. 3- Crush the ingredients in an iron mortar to obtain a coarse powder. 4- Soak the coarse powder in water overnight. 5- Transfer the soaked powder along with water into the distillation unit. 6- Distil the soaked material to get 7.5 l of Arq. Dosage- The recommended dosage of Ark Zeera is 60ml for adults. It should be taken two times in day, in the morning and in evening with water. Contraindications, Interactions, Side-effects, and Warnings 1- Always take this medicine in the recommended dosage to prevent any side-effect. 2- Heart patients should take this medicine after consulting doctor. 3- In larger dose, it may cause pain in abdomen, diarrhea, vomiting. It can cause sedation, depression of central nervous system and depression in reflexes of spinal cord. 4- Overdoses can cause intestinal disease, abdominal disease, headache, irritability, nausea and vomiting. 5- It should not be given to children. 6- It is better to avoid this medicine in pregnancy. Storage- 1-Store it in a cool and dry place and in a tightly closed container and also protect it from light and moisture.
