How is Barshasha prepared?

Ingredients used -

  1. Piper nigrum (FILFIL SIYAH)
  2. White Pepper (FILFIL SAFAID)
  3. Hyoscyamus niger (BAZAR-UL-BANJ)
  4. Opium (AFYUN)
  5. Saffron (ZAFRAN)
  6. Nardostachys jatamansi (SUMBUL-UT-TEEB)
  7. Anacyclus pyrethrum (AQAR QARHA)
  8. Euphorbia resinifera (FARFIYUN)

Method of Preparation

Grind each medicine separately, powder it, and filter it all together. Separately, dissolve Zafran in Arq-e-Gulab. Combine all of the powered drugs with honey, and take honey three times the weight of all of the powered drugs combined. After combining, bury this concoction for three months in barley (Sha'ir). It is buried for three months, which is why it is known as "Dawa al-Sha'ir." After three months, when its temperament has stabilised, it can be used for therapeutic purposes.

Shelf life: Its strength and potency last for five years from the date of manufacturing.

Dosage and Side effects

To have the intended effect, the medicine must be used with various adjutants (depending on the ailment). You can take 1/4 teaspoon daily for at least one month, but only after consulting or under the supervision of a doctor. Self-medication of the drug should be strictly avoided to avoid any negative effects. Rather, you should take an online consultation for your problems from a top Unani practitioner, Dr. Asfiya Najmi, at HealthyBazar.

There have been few complaints of side effects from overdoses of this formulation so far. However, some caution is advised because the formulation contains opium, which may cause allergic reactions in some people. If such substances are not sufficiently purified, they can be harmful to self-medication. Over-dosage can have serious poisonous effects. It may also cause opium dependency. Pregnant and breastfeeding women, as well as children, should avoid it.

Conclusion

Barshasha is considered a useful medicine for treating diseases naturally and for supporting the immune system. Its ingredients, like filfil siyah and zafran, act as cardioprotective and astringent, which helps treat multiple disorders and aids in digestion. Barshasha treats almost every problem related to respiratory diseases and is also considered a classic medicine for treating arthritis and other bone-related disorders.
